Acorn How Will My Funds Be Invested?

A fund established with the Berrien Community Foundation is invested by alliance managers monitored by the Fund Evaluation Group, a firm that works closely with several community foundations and other nonprofit organizations. Alliance managers include Charles Schwab, Chemical Bank, RMB Capital Management, Stifel Nicolaus, and Wells Fargo. Endowed and special nonendowed funds are invested for growth (70% equities, 30% fixed, adjusted for market conditions) with a total return goal over time of 5% plus our administrative fee plus inflation. Nonendowed funds are kept liquid.

The Investment Committee of the Berrien Community Foundation, the Board of Trustees, and staff of the Berrien Community Foundation review the investment performance of all funds on a regular basis to ensure that our communities assets are being well served. They are guided by a comprehensive Investment Policies and Procedures Statement drawn from the community foundation field.
