Mission Statement The mission of the Berrien Community Foundation is to promote philanthropy, to build a spirit of community, and to enhance the quality of life in Berrien County through its stewardship of permanently endowed and other funds.
We shall accomplish our mission by:
* Building permanent endowments and other funds and providing a broad range of flexible and cost-effective donor services
* Investing and managing funds prudently and professionally
* Making grants to support a broad range of projects and programs that address community needs, with a focus on building a spirit of community/arts & culture, nurturing our children, and youth development and leadership
* Serving as a facilitative leader, catalyst, and resource for our communities

The Heart of Cook Foundation Fund
“The Heart of Cook” is a grant program administered by the Berrien Community Foundation targeted to assist educational, human services, and environmental nonprofit projects in Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana (La Porte, St. Joseph, and Elkhart Counties).
The Berrien Community Foundation accepted applications on behalf of I & M's Heart of Cook Foundation Fund, a corporate advised fund held by BCF, from January 9-February 8, 2012. Applying organizations were notified of the decisions by mail in early April. For those organizations receiving grants, these will be provided at a May reception.
