Senior Nutrition Services Region IV- Meals on Wheels

We provide meals at 8 senior centers in Berrien county, providing opportunities to socialize over a nutritious meal, reducing worry and work for senior women and providing low cost nutritious food. The majority of the people served ( 71%) are women over 60, of which 50% report to be below Federal Poverty guidelines. 80% live alone. We also offer a restaurant voucher program at a restaurant in Stevensville, offering active seniors the option of going to a restaurant for a nutritious meal once a week. A third option for active seniors is the Gourmet Quick Bites program, which transforms leftovers from catering events into delicious frozen, 2 portion meals that can be picked up at select senior centers in Berrien county.

We also provide meals to home-bound seniors 60+ who are unable to shop or cook for themselves. In Berrien County, that number is 320 in since October 1, 2018. Our oldest female client is 108. We have 3 that are 104. The majority self report to be under the Federal Poverty guidelines. We can provide hot meals, cold supper sacks, frozen meals and choice frozen meals. Liquid meals can be delivered with a doctor's order.
