The Berrien County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to serving and protecting our community, but we need your help to continue ensuring public safety and enhancing our emergency response capabilities. We are currently seeking donations to support critical units.
Here are the units and teams in need of support, along with their descriptions:
• Chaplains Unit: Provides spiritual and emotional support to law enforcement officers and community members during times of crisis.
• Crime Prevention Unit: Educates the public, builds community partnerships, and implements proactive strategies to reduce crime and enhance safety.
• Dive Team: Specializes in water recovery operations in our local lakes and rivers.
• Hazardous Materials Team: Responds to hazardous material incidents, protecting the community from dangerous substances.
• K9 Unit: Provides support in searches, apprehensions, and detection of drugs, explosives, and other illegal items, helping to keep our community safe.
• Motor Unit: Focuses on traffic enforcement and community relations to maintain a positive influence with the public.
• Peer Support Team: Provides confidential emotional support and resources to officers dealing with job-related stress, trauma or personal challenges.
• Polar Plunge: Raises funds for special events and causes, with officers taking part in the annual Polar Plunge to support local charity programs.
• Police Memorial: Honors the fallen officers who have served in our community, remembering their sacrifices and ensuring they are never forgotten.
• RAD (Rape Aggression Defense): Provides free self-defense classes for women; donations help cover the cost of training equipment and materials to keep the program accessible to all.
• Shop with a Cop: Helps foster positive relationships between law enforcement and local children, providing them with a memorable holiday shopping experience.
• Tactical Response Unit: Handles high-risk situations and ensures public safety during critical events.
• Victim Services Unit: Offers support and resources to victims of crime, ensuring they receive the assistance they need during difficult times.
