Scholarship Application Tips

Here are some Scholarship Application Tips!

Make sure you TYPE out every application.
Include a copy of the first page of your FAFSA containing your EFC with EVERY application.

Follow Directions!

Pay attention to the "Application Instructions" page. Submit everything needed in the order that is listed. Don't staple anything! Use paperclips instead.
Type out your entire application, unless otherwise specifically instructed.

Answer every question!

Never leave a question blank! Even if your answer is to just briefly explain why you aren't answering.

Create quality documents!

Type all your forms unless otherwise specified. Don't use stained or crumpled paper.
Make sure everything is single sided.

But don't get too fancy!

When submitting your application, it is unnecessary to use really thick fancy paper. We often must scan the packets and thick paper can get destroyed in the feeder.

Sign on the line!

Make sure you and your parent or guardian sign the Signature Page.
Try to make that a separate page from the rest of your application.

Watch your deadlines!

Mail your application BEFORE the due date! Applications must be recieved or at least post-marked before the due date.
If you know something is going to be late, let us know! And make sure you get everything you can in before.

Ask for help early!

Scholarship applications are generally available at least 2 months before the due date. If you need to ask questions or request help in some way, you are far more likely to get help when the due date is 2 weeks from now, instead of 6 hours from now.

Find a proof-reader!

Don't let little mistakes ruin your submission. Find a friend or teacher to read your application and have them look for any typos, missed words, or missing documents.

Read all about it!

If you are unsure of something, it is ok to call or email us to ask. But remember to read through the whole application first!

Keep on the lookout!
